The Madzima Lab is part of the Department of Plant Biology at Michigan State University.

The overarching goal of the Madzima Lab is to understand how epigenetic mechanisms facilitate growth, development, and response to abiotic stress stimuli in crop plants.

Our on-going interdisciplinary efforts are aimed to elucidate the fundamental mechanisms by which epigenetic regulatory pathways (1) facilitate plant responses to abiotic stress stimuli and (2) regulate plant development to affect crop productivity, inflorescence development and seed yield. Ultimately, these mechanisms can be manipulated to develop climate resistant crops to ensure that we can meet the increasing global food demand.
